The annual Eurovision Song Contest gives nations the chance to put their best foot forward in terms of global showbiz strategy, strange musical performances, and, occasionally, reaping the benefits in the form of launching the career of a celebrity. It comes as no surprise, then, that in 2020, Netflix released “The Tale of Fire Saga,” a film about the competition that starred none other than Rachel McAdams and Will Ferrell.
Aside from Hollywood films, the Eurovision Song Contest has helped some of the biggest music talents in the world launch their careers, albeit it’s not always simple. While many of the competitors winning on stage during the competition, only a small number of them are able to gain notoriety after the Eurovision, either at home or abroadcountries or around the world. Many have tried (yes, even Katie Price and Kym Marsh made a Eurovision bid, although failed to be chosen as the UK’s entrant), but not all have succeeded. Those that have though, have gone down in history.
The countdown to the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 is officially underway with only a few weeks left. In honor of Ukraine, the winning nation for the year 2022, Liverpool is hospitably hosting the event. The country would not be safe for the tournament to be held because of the catastrophic, ongoing war. On May 13, Graham Norton, “Ted Lasso” star Hannah Waddingham, “Britain’s Got Talent” judge Alesha Dixon, and Ukrainian singer and frontwoman of The Hardkiss band Julia Sanina will all host the Grand Final.
