After a gunshot that took place in Old East Dallas on Wednesday afternoon, a young girl of six years old was killed.
At around 2:40 p.m., officers from the Dallas Police Department were dispatched to the 2100 block of North Fitzhugh Avenue in response to a gunshot. Upon arrival, they discovered a kid who had been hurt.
They stated that the young girl was present inside the house together with a number of other children and a handgun that was not secured.
Six-year-old girl was sent to a neighboring hospital, but she did not survive her stay there.
It was still unclear how the toddler was shot, according to the police, who stated this on Wednesday night.
The Dallas Police Department has not disclosed any additional information regarding the shooting, nor have they made any arrest announcements.
According to Markia Boyd, who lives two doors down from the victim, the youngster was a “sweet little girl” who had played with her own children. Boyd provided this information to NBC 5.
“That hurts,” Boyd commented after he found out that the girl had passed away as a result of her injury. “There is a plan behind all of this, God,” she said. I am attempting to keep from crying, but I am trembling at the moment.
At the scene, the child’s aunt reported to the police that her mother was at a funeral home at the time of the shooting, where she was making preparations to bury her son, Ah’bralen Rider, who was 14 years old.
According to the Dallas Police Department, Rider was discovered dead on December 29th, having been shot, close to the intersection of Harry Hines and Oak Lawn.
An investigation into the incident that occurred on Wednesday is still ongoing.
