A new generation of Cape Cod business entrepreneurs is rising to the challenge

Hira Rafiq was at a pivotal juncture in her life. She had a job as a pharmacy technician despite the fact that she had not attended school for that field and was looking for another position. However, Rafiq found it challenging to transition between fields on the Cape. She was working at Verde Floral Designs in Mashpee on the side while she was completing her master’s degree in business administration there.

She started out scrubbing buckets, but eventually became the manager of the company she worked for. Rafiq was offered the shop by the former proprietor, who had expressed interest in retiring.

Rafiq, who is 32 years old, stated when she was asked about taking over the family business alongside her family that “we were really nervous.” “But I told her that I have to seize this opportunity. I am at an age when there is nothing else I can do to diversify my income and make it work on the Cape.’ I made the most of this chance and didn’t let it pass me by.
