After a brutal hit-and-run accident, the family of a Dallas guy who was found dead in the driver’s car expresses their sorrow

Following the terrible loss of a pedestrian who was struck and killed by a driver who continued to drive about 40 miles to a fast food restaurant in White Settlement with the victim’s body in his passenger seat on Saturday night, a statement has been published by a family that has suffered a loss.

An incident involving a motorist who looked to be slumped over the steering wheel of a substantially damaged car that was parked near the Jack in the Box restaurant that is located near Interstate 30 was reported to the White Settlement Police Department on Saturday evening at approximately 11:15 p.m. Terry Ivory, 45 years old, was discovered dead in the front passenger seat of the vehicle by the first officer to arrive at the site. Their discovery was made by the officer.

The authorities stated that they requested the driver, Nestor Luján Flores, who was 31 years old, to exit the vehicle. They then contacted emergency fire and medical officials, who provided confirmation that Ivory had passed away.

An individual named Flores, who had previously been found guilty of driving under the influence of alcohol in the year 2020, allegedly stated to the police that he believed Flores had informed the officer that he had hit a deer in Dallas.

Ivory was flung inside the vehicle while he was at the crosswalk near Cockrell Hill Road and Interstate 30 in West Dallas, according to the detectives who examined the scene. They believe that the impact was so forceful that he was thrown inside the vehicle. Ivory’s legs were recovered from the scene of the accident, according to the White Settlement Police Department, and the remainder of his corpse was discovered in the passenger side of Lujan’s vehicle and was located there.

Ivory’s family issued the following statement on behalf of their loved one when it was released on Wednesday, December 20:

Terry Ivory was our brother, and he was a talented, compassionate, caring, and hard-working individual who would do whatever it took to get to work. He would do whatever it took to get there. He had a wonderful smile and was a hilarious person. He was devoted to his family and always encouraged them. In spite of the circumstances he was in, he went out of his way to assist other people. He is cherished, and his absence will be grieved deeply.

When Joel Lujan Flores was booked into the Dallas County Jail on December 19, 2023, NBC 5 News photographer Joel Lujan Flores was present.
According to the investigations, Flores traveled 38 miles before halting at the parking lot of Jack in the Box between the hours of 8 and 9 p.m., at least two hours before the customer phoned the police. This was despite the fact that his hood was severely damaged and that he had a large hold in his windshield.

Jack in the Box employees reported to the police that Flores had entered the fast food restaurant while covered in blood in order to use the phone charger that was available there.

It was reported to NBC 5 on Tuesday morning that Flores had been transferred to Dallas County, where he was subsequently put into the county jail and charged with a collision that resulted in the death of another person. The amount of the bond has not been determined, and it is not clear whether or not Flores has retained legal representation to advocate on his behalf.
