Alleged Arson Attempt at Massachusetts Catholic Church Leads to Charges for Two 12-Year-Olds

East Bridgewater, MA – In a shocking incident, two 12-year-old children from Massachusetts are facing serious charges for an alleged attempt to set fire to a Catholic church. Reports indicate that they also burned a Bible and an altar cloth during the incident, which has garnered attention and concern in the local community.

The alleged act of vandalism unfolded at St. John the Evangelist Church in East Bridgewater, Massachusetts. Local law enforcement and fire officials responded to a report of vandalism at the church, which came in on a Friday afternoon. A preliminary investigation revealed the extent of the damage, including a burned Bible and an altar cloth.

To assist with the investigation, the Massachusetts State Police Fire and Explosion Investigative Unit joined the local authorities in examining the incident. According to East Bridgewater Police Chief Michael Jenkins, the investigation was commendable police work.

Upon reviewing security footage, the police were able to identify and charge the two suspects, a boy and a girl, in connection with the incident. The charges include breaking and entering a building, larceny, burning of a building, and destruction of property with damages exceeding $1,200.

Both juveniles are expected to face arraignment at the Brockton District Juvenile Court on a later date, as confirmed by local law enforcement. The incident has sparked concern in the community, and it underscores the need for addressing and preventing such acts, even when committed by young individuals.
