Amplify GR Seeks Naming Ideas for $25 Million Community Hub in Boston Square

Grand Rapids, MI – Amplify GR, a community development group, is inviting residents to suggest names for a new community hub currently under construction in the Boston Square neighborhood. The $25 million project will feature spaces for childcare, healthcare services, and community events, and Amplify GR is eager to involve the local community in naming the hub.

Residents can submit their naming ideas and review submission guidelines on the project’s website, bostonsquaregr.org/community-hub. The deadline for suggestions is midnight on Friday, October 13.

Amplify GR encourages residents to get creative and submit captivating and memorable name suggestions that reflect the core values identified through community engagement efforts in the neighborhood. These values include legacy, historical roots, fellowship, family, community, and opportunity. The chosen name will be displayed above the hub’s main entrance.

The construction of the hub is currently underway, with the two-story, 45,000 square foot building expected to house an early childhood education provider and a clinic operated by Corewell Health. Additionally, it will feature community spaces suitable for various events, such as birthday parties, baby showers, poetry readings, open mic nights, and more.

Amplify GR spokesperson Jenny Luth noted that there will be a rental fee for community members wishing to host events at the space, although the exact fee structure has not yet been determined. The project’s team is committed to ensuring the hub’s accessibility to local neighbors.

The Early Learning Neighborhood Collaborative is no longer the early childhood education provider for the space, correcting earlier information.
