Animal Rescue League of Boston Saves Injured Mother Cat and Her Kittens in Fall River

Fall River, Massachusetts – In a heartwarming rescue mission, the Animal Rescue League of Boston (ARL) recently came to the aid of a mother cat and her three 4-week-old kittens in Fall River. The concerned call from a resident played a vital role in saving their lives, as the mother cat’s injuries had left her unable to care for her young ones, putting them in grave danger.

ARL’s dedicated agents swiftly intervened, trapping the mother cat and her kittens. They were transported to the ARL’s Dedham Animal Care and Adoption Center, where they received immediate veterinary care. Kiki, as the mother cat is now known, had suffered multiple puncture wounds and was underweight.

The kittens were suffering from upper respiratory infections, but thanks to prompt medical attention, the infections are now under control. Due to their young age, the kittens were placed into foster care, where they could be closely monitored.

Despite their harrowing early experiences, the kittens are recovering well and will be available for adoption in November.

ARL operates the Community Cat Program, focusing on helping cats living in outdoor environments that face various challenges. These community cats often lack proper shelter and care, making them vulnerable to illness and injury.

It is estimated that approximately 700,000 community cats reside throughout Massachusetts, with 70,000 in Boston alone. ARL remains dedicated to rescuing and caring for these animals in need, making a significant impact on the lives of cats and kittens in the state.
