At the 2023 Oscars, Cara Delevingne added a splash of red on the new champagne carpet. On March 12, the actor and model attended the awards ceremony wearing an Elie Saab ballgown in crimson. Delevingne’s costume was styled by Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn with Stuart Weitzman satin stilettos and Bulgari jewelry.
Delevingne’s haute-couture ensemble had an asymmetrical neck and a single statement sleeve decorated with an abstract flower pattern made of coiled scarlet ribbons. As a result, Delevingne—one of many celebrities to sport an updo at the awards ceremony—became indistinguishable from the big rose arrangement that was around the trophy statue close by.
The luxurious fabric wrapped around Delevingne’s waist before tapering into a layered skirt with a floor-grazing train. The skirt also featured a thigh-high slit on her right side that gave a glimpse at her strappy sandals. She completed the ensemble with a layered Serpenti necklace by Bulgari in white gold, emeralds, and diamonds, as well as matching earrings.
From behind, the gown’s low-cut back gave a sneak peek at Delevingne’s hidden sword tattoo along her neck and back, part of the star’s extensive ink collection. “YEAAAAAAAA BOIIII,” Chrissy Teigen commented on photos of the “Only Murders in the Building” star’s striking look on Zangardi’s Instagram account.
