March 3, 2019 (UPI) On her first day of work, an anxious bus driver gave a sheep that was seen wandering wild on a British highway a ride back to its owner.
According to Brighton & Hove Buses, driver Martine Patey saw a sheep wandering loose on the A27 highway on her way to Eastbourne for her first Rail Replacement bus duty on Sunday morning.
When the animal escaped, Patey pulled over and joined other motorists in the effort to catch it.
Martine stated in a news release that the sheep were rushing all over the road. It was challenging to catch, but when it slipped in front of me, I was able to grab it and use the strap of my handbag as a lasso.

Together, we were able to hang on to it until the police arrived thanks to two other drivers who had stopped to aid.”
Martine was asked by the police to transport the sheep to a nearby farm, but she claimed that it only took a short drive before the farmer arrived with his truck and picked up the livestock.
Patey continued to Eastbourne and was only 1 minute late for the commencement of the service, according to Brighton & Hove Buses.
