Bulletin Board Material: A Steelers cornerback refers to Zay Flowers as a “munchkin”

On Sunday, the Baltimore Ravens will visit the Pittsburgh Steelers in a battle for the AFC North lead. The Ravens are presently in first place with a record of 3-1, but the Steelers are within striking distance with a record of 2-2. The season is still young, but the stakes are high.

The vast majority of experts favor the Ravens, whose formidable defense should make short work of Matt Canada’s pathetic offense. The MVP recipient for Baltimore is Lamar Jackson, while Pittsburgh’s Kenny Pickett is one week removed from a knee injury. The Steelers have overwhelming odds against them.

Still, the locker room is confident, particularly the defense, with ringleader and eight-time Pro Bowler Patrick Peterson subtly slamming the Ravens’ best receiver days before the game.

This is complimentary bulletin board material for Flowers and Ravens. After 13 NFL seasons, Peterson has earned the right to be a little arrogant, but perhaps he should learn his lesson.

Patrick Peterson gives Zay Flowers free inspiration prior to the Steelers-Ravens game.
This season, Peterson has been quite the chatterbox before contests. Before the Steelers’ Week 1 game against the San Francisco 49ers, he promised to intercept “system QB” Brock Purdy. The outcome? Purdy threw for 220 yards, two touchdowns, and most notably, zero interceptions as the 49ers won 30-7.

Perhaps it would be unwise to provide free bulletin board material to stronger teams. Flowers appears to be the WR to beat on that roster. In four weeks, the rookie from Boston College has become Jackson’s preferred target in the Baltimore offense, catching 24 of 29 targets for 244 yards.
