Philadelphia, PA – The Boston Celtics faced off against the Philadelphia 76ers for the second time in four nights in what appeared to be another closely contested matchup. However, the Celtics had other plans and broke open the game with an impressive 22-3 run during the third quarter.
The game was tightly contested and tied at 72-72 with just 4:32 remaining in the third quarter. Boston then launched an 18-3 run to close out the third quarter and continued their strong performance into the final frame.
Luke Kornet initiated the run with an and-one lay-up, and Sam Hauser extended Boston’s lead with a deep three-pointer, bringing the score to 80-72. Payton Pritchard added to the run with a step-back two-pointer.
For the 76ers, Jaden Springer managed to sink a three-pointer at the 3:12 mark, breaking a scoring drought that had lasted for almost nine minutes. During this span, extending from the 7:05 mark of the third quarter to the 10:17 mark of the fourth, the Sixers were only able to add Springer’s three points to the scoreboard.
The Celtics closed out the third quarter with ten consecutive points and opened the fourth quarter with four more before the 76ers finally scored again. By that point, Boston had turned a tied game at 72-all into a commanding 94-75 lead. The Celtics coasted to a 112-101 victory, marking their second win over the Atlantic Division rival in just four nights.
Key player of the game was Sam Hauser, who bounced back after a couple of tough shooting nights in the preseason. Hauser recorded 15 points, four rebounds, three assists, one steal, and one block while shooting 4-of-9 from beyond the arc. His significant contributions came during the third quarter, where he played all 12 minutes and helped lead Boston’s 18-3 run to close out the frame. Hauser’s efficient shooting was a key factor in the Celtics’ victory.
