Due to the weather, several North Texas municipalities postpone MLK Day parades and events

A number of municipalities in North Texas have declared the cancellation of MLK Day parades and certain events originally planned for Monday, January 15 in light of the adverse weather conditions.

From late Sunday through Monday, there is a 40% chance of a wintry mix consisting of freezing rain, sleet, and snow throughout North Texas.

Thursday marked the beginning of the postponement of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day parade in Dallas, among other cities.

The following additional North Texas municipalities have issued declarations regarding the postponement of their parades and events:

The city has announced that the Arlington MLK Four-Day Celebration events, which were originally scheduled for Sunday, January 14, and Monday, January 15, 2024, have been rescheduled due to the predicted severe winter conditions.

“The majority of these events require attendees, guests, and volunteers to be outdoors,” explained Lisa Thompson, president of the Board of Directors of the Arlington Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Committee, Inc. Our objective is to safeguard individuals against subzero temperatures.
