Evan Neal, offensive lineman for the New York Giants, continues to excavate himself a deeper hole.
Throughout last week’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks, Neal was criticized for his condescending remarks toward Giants supporters. He reportedly referred to Giants fans as “hamburger and hot dog flippers,” and it didn’t take much for the New York media to portray Neal as an insufferable jerk.
Neal is not only a bully, but he is also poor at his job. Neal, a 2022 first-round choice from Alabama, drew attention prior to the Giants’ Week 5 game against the Dolphins. On Sunday, a clip showed Neal zoning out on the field and missing a Dolphins pass-rusher.
Who is now the sheep? Evan Neal of the Giants appears timid and defenseless against the Dolphins.
The Giants are presently trailing the powerful Dolphins 24-13, and Neal’s lackluster performance on the field is not helping quarterback Daniel Jones.
New York continues to rank at the bottom of the league in several offensive categories heading into Week 5, and with Saquon Barkley still sidelined due to injury, the Giants will need a miracle to mount a comeback against Miami.
Neal has since apologized for his incendiary remarks, but the damage has already been done. He has tarnished his own off-field reputation in New York, and he has also underperformed on the field.
The once-promising draft decision has fallen from favor. Can he recover and demonstrate that he is a franchise offensive lineman?
