First Texas State Police Officer Fired After Uvalde School Shooting Inquiry

The report claims that at 11:37 a.m., Maldonado was spotted outside the north door of the school.

Staff Sgt. Eduardo Canales, a member of the Uvalde Police SWAT unit, was hurt but was unable to enter the classroom, so Maldonado can be heard saying, “We have to get in there,” in the video.

Five minutes before her first officer was supposed to arrive on the scene according to the DPS chronology, Maldonado showed up at the school.

The law enforcement reaction stated there was no obvious leadership on the ground, according to a report issued by the Texas state legislature in July. Also, it claimed that the police took too long to confront the suspect. The study stated that they failed to put protecting the lives of innocent victims ahead of their own protection.

To be honest, there were numerous cops at the crime scene who were either denied access to the building, given inaccurate information, or both. Some were informed that the merged school district’s police chief was actually in the room where the shooting took place, talking with the shooter, so they were unaware of what was happening, according to Burrows.
