A close family member who traveled with Queen Camilla and King Charles on their honeymoon has passed away, and the monarch is in grief.
It has been revealed that her sister Annabel’s husband and brother-in-law Simon Elliot passed away at the age of 82.
The landowner and merchant was married to Annabel for 50 years, and the two were close friends of both the King and the Queen Consort.
Due to their friendship, they even went to Balmoral with Charles and Camilla following their Windsor wedding in 2005 for their honeymoon. He also attended the late Queen’s funeral in September.
The Sun reports that Mr. Elliot passed away a few days ago, and his funeral is scheduled to take place in Stourpaine, Dorset, at the end of the month.
Three children—daughters Catherine and Alice, and son Mark, a former co-chairman of the Conservative party—were born to him and his interior designer wife Annabel.
His passing occurs not long after Camilla’s cousin Charles Villiers, 59, was discovered dead in a hotel room in London’s Marylebone district in August.
Camilla also unexpectedly lost her brother Mark Shand in 2014 when he fell while out on a night in New York City.News of her brother-in-law’s death comes as the Queen Consort hosts a reception at Buckingham Palace today to mark International Women’s Day.
She has invited inspiring women from across society, including entrepreneurs, entertainers, athletes, authors, journalists and public servants to the event.
And earlier, she released a message to mark the day, which said: “International Women’s Day is a day to celebrate female achievement, to encourage and inspire one another and to thank the women in our lives for their contribution to society.”
Meanwhile, yesterday, Camilla joined Charles for a visit to Colchester, where they celebrated its recent city status.
