This year has a lot of things that I’m looking forward to. Some are significant, like commemorating life milestones with loved ones. Others are more modest, like spending time in our new home’s garden. I’m also looking forward to wearing sandals, which may seem insignificant in comparison. As ridiculous as it may sound, there’s something about sandals that makes me genuinely happy.
It might be transportive; when I put on my cherished, five-year-old brown leather sliders, I instantly feel as though I’m back on my favorite beach, my sole focus being the horizon. Summer is the time of year when I feel the most at peace with myself and my lot, and sandals are a big part of that.
