In a bear encounter, the National Park Service advises “never to push a slower friend down.”

March 2, 2019 (UPI) Never push a slower friend down, the National Park Service advised park visitors who come across bears.

The NPS stated on its official Twitter account that the solution is never to feed a bear another human.

Even if you believe the friendship has reached its end, never push a slower friend down when you come across a bear, the NPS advised in a tweet.

What should a park tourist do if they are the slower friend? The National Park Service responded, “Check in on the friendship before you walk to the woods.”

“For any visitor to a national park, seeing a bear in the wild is a special treat. Although it is a thrilling time, it is crucial.The NPS shared a link to its page of bear encounter advice, which includes hiking in groups, picking up small children and keeping food away from the animals.
