As part of the government’s Investing in America trip, First Lady Dr. Jill Biden will do a two-day blitz in four states the following week, giving a sneak peek at how she might be utilized in a hypothetical reelection effort.
The first lady will visit Colorado and Michigan, a crucial battleground state, on Monday before making stops in Maine and Vermont on Wednesday. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona will accompany her on these travels, according to a White House official who gave a CNN preview of the trip.
She will make an appearance in Vermont alongside Gov. Phil Scott, a Republican, in what the source described as her most recent attempt to concentrate on subjects that may get support from both parties. Governors of Colorado Jared Polis and Maine Janet Mills will also accompany the First Lady.
The first lady’s trip comes as the White House seeks to tout President Joe Biden’s legislative accomplishments ahead of a likely re-election campaign, an endeavor the first lady previously told CNN she is “all for.”
The President, First Lady, Vice President Kamala Harris and nearly a dozen Cabinet officials are expected to fan out to more than 20 states during the three-week “Investing in America” push, which the President launched Tuesday with a stop in Durham, North Carolina. He will continue the tour Monday with a stop in the Minneapolis, Minnesota area.
“The First Lady is a key ambassador for the government’s priorities and will continue to highlight the President’s achievements across the country through her journey on the Investing in America tour,” said Vanessa Valdivia, public relations officer for the First Lady.
During her husband’s 2020 presidential campaign and first two years in office, Dr. Biden is her husband’s best deputy and has balanced her own work as a community college professor with the demands of campaigning and official events.
While she typically teaches twice a week, Dr. Often spends her other days traveling around the country and is expected to play a major role in any future campaign operation.
During the two-day tour, the First Lady will draw on her own educational experience to refine the importance of community college investment in staff training programs in Colorado, Maine and Michigan.
