John Blocher has been appointed to the positions of vice president, actuary, and chief risk officer at Liberty Bankers Insurance Group (LBIG), which is a provider of life, health, and wealth insurance that is recognized on a national scale.
“With a proven track record, Blocher brings a wealth of knowledge to the LBIG team,” said David Vrla, executive vice president, chief actuary, and appointed actuary at Liberty Bankers Insurance Group. “Blocher brings a huge amount of experience to the table.” “His contributions to our company’s enterprise risk management program will help ensure continued growth and profitability.”
Blocher had been working for Mass Mutual Ascend as a senior actuary prior to joining the team. Additionally, he held the position of director of enterprise risk management at Security Benefit, in addition to holding a variety of roles in the company’s valuation, capital management, and reinsurance departments for the annuity, life, and health lines of business.

The Society of Actuaries has elected Blocher to the position of fellow, and the American Academy of Actuaries has accepted him as a member. In addition to serving on committees for the American Academy of Actuaries, he is employed by the Society of Actuaries as a member of their examination committee.
He received a bachelor of science degree in industrial management from Purdue University, where he also had completed his studies.
