Johnny Rotten’s wife, Nora Forster, has died at the age of 80

Nora Forster, the beloved wife of legendary Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon, aka Johnny Rotten, died at the age of 80 after a long and difficult battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Lydon’s official Twitter account announced her death on Thursday, expressing deep sorrow and heartbreak in a heartfelt message.

“It is with a heavy heart that we share the sad news that Nora Forster, John Lydon’s wife of nearly five decades, has passed away,” the message said.

Forster had fought Alzheimer’s for seven years, with Lydon by her side as her full-time caregiver. Lydon expressed his love and devotion for his wife in a 2020 interview with The Mirror, stating that was determined that no one would ever harm her or cause her distress.

“That person I love is still present in my life every minute of every day. It’s unfortunate that she forgets things, but who doesn’t? “Lydon stated during the interview. Forster was a German publishing heiress who worked as a music promoter in London during the 1970s, providing much-needed financial support to punk bands such as the Clash, the Slits, and the Sex Pistols. She and Lydon met in 1975 at Vivienne Westwood’s famed punk shop Sex and married in 1979, beginning a nearly five-decade relationship.

The couple had no children, and Forster’s previous marriage’s daughter, Ariane, also known as Ari Up, died when she was young away in 2010 at the age of 48 after a battle with breast cancer.
