What’s going on: Subject to D.C. Council approval, the initiative is included in the mayor’s recommended budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
Now, three of the Circulator’s six routes—Rosslyn to Dupont Circle, Eastern Market to L’Enfant Plaza, and Woodley Park to McPherson Square Metro—would be eliminated as a result of the changes.
The three remaining routes would still transport passengers around the National Mall, between Congress Heights and Union Station, and between Georgetown and Union Station.
Inside the text: According to city administrator Kevin Donahue, the expense of powering the buses is rising.
According to him, the lines that would be eliminated would save the city millions of money because they had lower ridership than WMATA bus routes.
