New Pictures of Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo Highlight Their “Wicked” Connection

The “Wicked” movie is finally happening after more than a decade of tries. Ariana Grande will play Glinda the Good Witch in the movie, which will be directed by “Crazy Rich Asians” and “In the Heights” director Jon M. Chu, and Cynthia Erivo will play Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West.

With a shared Instagram post on March 26, Grande and Erivo gave fans a preview of what to expect in “Wicked.” The actors shared a carousel of images of the two of them together, showcasing the friendship they’ve grown since the movie’s filming began. The pictures were labelled “up to (no) good”

In 2022, the movie also included Bowen Yang, Marissa Bode, Bronwyn James, Keala Settle, Aaron Teoh, and Colin Michael Carmichael. Deadline broke the news first; Universal did not react to POPSUGAR’s earlier request for comment. The publication also appeared to confirm Jeff Goldblum’s casting as the Wizard, which had been rumored for weeks at that point before the actor revealed it during his appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” in March 2023.

Michelle Yeoh was cast as Madame Morrible in the film just the day before Deadline made their announcement. Yeoh received her first Oscar in 2023 for her performance in “Everything Everywhere Everything at Once” from the year 2022. Chu disclosed on Twitter that he texted Yeoh, a former coworker.
