One day after Frisco’s arrest, linebacker Rashaan Evans is released by the Dallas Cowboys

Wednesday marked the release of Dallas Cowboys LB Rashaan Evans, one day after his arrest in Frisco for marijuana possession.

Wednesday, the Cowboys declared the former first-round pick’s release.

FOX 4 was informed by Frisco police that Evans was arrested for possession of 2 to 4 ounces of marijuana on Tuesday.

In 2023, he appeared in nine games for the Cowboys, accumulating nine tackles.

Evans was acquired by the Cowboys subsequent to his release from the practice squad of the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Tennessee Titans selected Evans in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

Prior to this season, the linebacker spent four seasons with the Tennessee Titans and one year with the Atlanta Falcons.

WEEKLY DALLAS COWBOYS UPDATES

On the roster, the Cowboys activated OL Matt Waletzko in place of Evans.

“When it comes to this time of year, especially with young players, one begins to project; therefore, such difficult decisions must be made.” Therefore, this is a direct result of maintaining good health, Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy stated on Wednesday. “We felt the depth with Wally would be beneficial.”
