As the world commemorates the anniversary of the Russian invasion, King Charles III has sent a message to Ukraine. The battle has turned into the worst in Europe since World War Two and is still going on with millions of people being displaced.
In a statement, His Majesty said: “It has now been a year since an unjustified full-scale attack on their country caused the people of Ukraine to suffer indescribably. In the face of such a tragic human event, they have displayed genuinely amazing bravery and tenacity.
“I met President Zelenskyy at Buckingham Palace earlier this month to show my support for the Ukrainian people on a personal level. It is encouraging to know that the United Kingdom and its friends are making every effort to assist during this extremely trying period.
“As a result, I can only hope that the global display of solidarity will offer not only useful assistance but also strength from the realization that we all stand together. R. Charles.On February 24, at 11 a.m., the UK will observe a moment of quiet to commemorate the anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. In addition, hundreds gathered for a vigil on Thursday night in London’s Trafalgar Square. Late on February 23rd, the UN also adopted a resolution denouncing Russia.
On February 24, 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine for the first time. Since then, at least 100,000 soldiers on each side have been killed or injured, according to the American military. Almost 13 million people have been forced to from their homes or were internally displaced, and thousands of civilians have died.
