Pink receives the iHeartRadio Icon Award following their exhilarating duet with Kelly Clarkson

Pink recently received recognition as a music icon at the iHeartRadio Music Awards, and she made a stirring speech to highlight why she deserved the honor. At the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on March 27, Pink received the iHeartRadio icon award from fellow performer Kelly Clarkson. Pink’s honesty and “ability to connect with people” were commended by Clarkson, who bemoaned the fact that she and the majority of the populace can never be as cool as the “Raise Your Glass” singer.

A film collection of Pink’s most stirring performances, mingled with personal footage from her youth, aired prior to her taking the stage. Pink stated in an interview cited in the article, “I still have a lot of fight left in me.
“I’m going to lead the way and encourage and motivate people.”

A live tribute performance of Pink’s song “Just Like a Pill” by 1980s legend Pat Benatar came before her winning speech as well. As she returned, Clarkson sang “Just Give Me a Reason” from 2012 with the help of numerous women playing strings. Later, Pink joined Clarkson for a stirring duet of their respective songs. Pink stated, “Every room I walk into, my heart walks into first. Being on stage doing what I love, with people I love, and my babies in the crowd, this feels like a Christmas miracle. Every song I write is the result of my heart breaking.

“You have watched me do this, just sifting through life’s messiness, for 25 years,” she said to her audience.
Pink also spoke about the importance of vulnerability, telling the gathered LA crowd, “I think as human beings we are vulnerable from the time we are born to the time we die . . . I have decided to make vulnerability my life’s work.” The artist, who walked the red carpet earlier with her children, Willow, 11, and Jameson, 6, concluded her speech by saying, “I’m grateful to be alive, I’m grateful I get to do this with my one precious life.”
