During the Christmas in The Park at Fair Park event that took place on Saturday morning, more than 30,000 families from North Texas were given the opportunity to select brand new presents, toys, and necessities for their homes.
It is one of the most significant charitable events that takes place in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
For the past quarter of a century, the line at the automotive building at Dallas Fair Park has been steadily rising around the time of Christmas. This is due to the fact that no one is left behind during the holiday season.
“We didn’t have money to get anything for Christmas, so this is helping out a lot,” according to Karen Reeves.
A mother of two, Reeves is a mother.
She stated that she had no other option than to take her children to Christmas in The Park in order to give them the opportunity to experience the busiest time of the year.
“It brings tears to my eyes to see that we are able to get help from the community,” according to her. “Everyone who is assisting us in whatever way. Certainly, it is a lucky break.
Santa Claus stopped by and greeted all of the people who came to catch a glimpse of him.
However, despite the fact that there were no reindeer in sight to assist Santa Claus, many of the people who helped with the event had been giving back to Fair Park for decades.
On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the S.M. Wright Foundation, the president of the organization, S.M. Wright II, stated that “it’s just amazing that there are thousands of children and over 9,750 families here today.” “And to see the consistency and faithfulness of our sponsors and donors to help us for this event.”
The S.M. Wright Foundation provides assistance to families that are struggling, whether it be via education, relief from hunger, or a variety of other areas.
“These families do not have the financial resources to keep the home managed because of the escalating prices of food and transportation,” according to Wright.
On the other hand, this trend, which began twenty-five years ago, has given rise to family traditions.
The Christmas in The Park event has been a tradition for us. “For as long as my family has been around, there has been nothing in the city that is comparable to it, and it’s possible that there is nothing comparable anywhere else,” Cullum Clark said.
We are doing all of this in the hope that other families in North Texas and across the country will never again have to be concerned about the holidays.
Yesenia Rodriguez remarked that being a single parent at this time is a challenging experience. The current circumstances make it quite challenging. I am quite grateful, despite the fact that it is really going up and the economy is like that.
During the holiday season, around fourteen percent of the households in Dallas County do not have the essentials they require.
Donations can still be made until the end of the year for the 25th annual Christmas in The Park event that will take place at Fair Park Center. To learn more about Christmas in The Park, please click on the link provided.
