Public schools in Texas anticipate no funding increase as the voucher stalemate persists

While legislators are occupied with family obligations, school district administrators are occupied with budgetary concerns.

Governor Greg Abbott is allegedly holding school funding and teacher compensation captive due to a stalemate over school vouchers, according to his detractors.

At the end of 2023, district administrators will be considering budget adjustments.

“I believe the governor has temporarily set aside special sessions in order to concentrate on the 2024 Republican primaries,” said Mark Jones, a political scientist at Rice University.

Following several unsuccessful endeavors in 2023 to secure the passage of school voucher legislation, Governor Abbott is presently adopting a strategic stance.
