According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the reservists will be fully mobilized in two weeks, according to the state-run Interfax news agency.
“Already, the task is nearing its conclusion. Out of the 300,000 people who are forming the soldiers, 222,000 are currently mobilized, and I believe that all mobilization efforts will be finished in about two weeks “During a news conference after visiting Kazakhstan, Putin remarked.
Also, there have been claims that mobilized reservists are receiving little to no training and are being issued obsolete and inoperable weaponry. These reports coincide with the announcement.The US-based think group Institute for the Study of War released a report on mobilized reservists on Thursday, noting some of the stories that have come out of Russia and Ukraine.
Five mobilized Chelyabinsk men have reportedly already died in battle in Ukraine, according to Russian media.
According to the ISW’s report, “the report led many pro-war milbloggers to claim that the number of dead and wounded among mobilized servicemen is likely higher than this due to the lack of promised training, equipment, unit cohesion, and commanders, as well as repeated instances of wrongful mobilization.The report states that according to Russian military bloggers, Mikhail Zusko, the commander of the 58th Combined Arms Army of the Southern Military District, ordered the deployment of some “Mobiks” without any pre-combat training.
Then, according to Ukrainian media, Zusko had been detained as a result of the significant fighting casualties.
By February 2023, 10,000 deaths and 40,000 injuries will be caused among freshly mobilized personnel, according to a complaint made on October 13 by a Russian military blogger, the ISW stated.Reports have also emerged that “Mobiks” have been surrendering to Ukrainian forces in large numbers.
Many analysts have argued that the Kremlin will likely mobilize more than 300,000 reservists. Given the haphazard way reservists have been mobilized since Putin announced his intentions of September 21st, the Kremlin’s official figures regarding the number of reservists to be mobilized is questionable.
Putin went on to say that the Russian Ministry of Defense has not submitted proposals to mobilize additional troops.
“No proposals have been received from the Ministry of Defense in this regard and in the foreseeable future I do not see any need,” Putin stated.
