Early in the morning, Fabrizio Romano announced that FC Dallas and a 25-year-old Croatian forward had reached an agreement to swap places with Benfica in Portugal.
The Italian source, who had earlier published on Petar Musa’s transfer, now claims:
“The paperwork is prepared; on Tuesday, the clubs exchanged it, and it is now awaiting verification. Musa is prepared to sign a contract and undergo medical exams.”
Given that Benfica will get a fixed fee of 10 million euros for the Croatian forward, with a further three million euros through bonuses, this trade marks a record for the American club. The club’s greatest player acquisition to date was Argentine Alan Velasco, who cost 6.36 million euros two seasons ago.
This season, Musa has played in 25 games for Benfica, contributing two assists and six goals while not playing the entire game. In March of last year, he made his debut for the national team in the Euro qualifiers at Poljud against Wales. Dalić did not call him up for the matches against Latvia and Armenia.
