On November 30th, three seniors from Dallas County High School were awarded scholarships from Alabama State University (ASU).
Scholarship money of one hundred thousand dollars were awarded to Ayden Thomas, Ebony Carter, and Li’ Donna Woods by Arizona State University.
Anthony Sampson, the superintendent of schools for Dallas County, expressed his pride in the fact that three pupils were given the opportunity to attend college.
Sampson expressed his excitement by saying, “It is so exciting to see students being rewarded for academic achievement.” “You are doing an excellent job. “This is just the beginning of things.”
Mariama DeRamus, an education specialist for Selma City Schools, stated that the award recipients demonstrated ability at a younger age when they were still in the Selma City Schools system.
According to DeRamus, “Since they were students at Brantley Elementary School, these remarkable young women have been breaking down barriers and making strides.”
