During a fundraising activity that took place in the classroom, students from a nearby school demonstrated a lot of heart.
The Dallas Primary School participated in a program that encouraged children to construct hearts out of LEGO® bricks and share them on social media using the hashtag #BuildToGive. In exchange, the firm donated LEGO® sets to hospitals, children’s homes, or vulnerable communities all around the world for each heart that was created and shared.
Mrs. Amy Wilson, a teacher for grades P1-4, was the one who proposed the challenge, according to the head teacher, Mairi Grant.
In light of the fact that our students are enthusiastic about assisting others and constructing with LEGO®, Mrs. Grant said, “We came to the conclusion that this was the ideal challenge for the entire school.”
“As soon as they walked into the school, they were overjoyed to discover that LEGO® was scattered across their tables. The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child to play was the topic of discussion after we viewed a movie about the challenge that was taken from the internet.
Last but not least, we used LEGO® to make hearts, some of which were two-dimensional, some of which were three-dimensional, and some of which were even framed. It was fascinating to observe the inventiveness of each individual as they constructed!
“We would like to encourage other schools to do the same to help make sure more children can enjoy building with LEGO® this Christmas.”
In the meantime, Dallas Primary School has been hard at work getting ready for the holiday season.
After a successful Festive Fair for a Fairer World on Friday, students are decorating on Monday, participating in a snowman drive and making lights circuits on Tuesday, attending a party that was organized by P7 on Wednesday, delivering seventy handcrafted gifts to various locations throughout the village, exchanging recycled gifts on Thursday, and finally attending a carol service at Dallas Church on Friday.
