‘The Chosen’ director Dallas Jenkins has expressed interest in the possibility of doing a full-length film about Jesus

The launch of the fourth season of “The Chosen” can be expected to take place in just a few days. In Canada, he has been working on the production of “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever,” which he has been doing. And now he is dropping hints about the possibility of filming a full-length movie about the resurrection of Jesus.

“We’re hoping also to potentially do a feature film within that whole storyline, so we’ve got some plans for that that we’re developing now,” Jenkins stated in an interview with Newsweek regarding the possibility of filming a film based on the account of Jesus’ resurrection. When Jenkins was working on content for his church, he became acquainted with Jonathan Roumie, and it is currently unknown whether or not Roumie will be a part of the production. Jenkins stated that Roumie’s portrayal of Jesus was the greatest he has ever seen in a documentary series that was released not too long ago.

Earlier, Jenkins had given the Deseret News an indication that he was working on other projects at the same time. At some point in the future, we do expect that we will be able to make some announcements regarding the expansion of this ‘Chosen’ world and the Bible universe, as well as the telling of more stories that go beyond the Gospels. But there is still a great deal to do at this very moment. In any case, I still have to edit the fourth season.”

It should come as no surprise that the phrase “this ‘Chosen’ universe and Bible universe” conjures up images of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There is still a lot of uncertainty over the extent to which Jenkins will expand his content.

Back in the fall, he made that statement. Now that the fourth season of the show has entered theaters, Jenkins is just a few days away from seeing it. The theatrical debut of each and every episode of this season is included in the package.

In addition, the resurrection will be incorporated into the content of “The Chosen” series itself. At this very moment, the series is accelerating its pace in the direction of Holy Week. According to Jenkins, who spoke with Deadline, the crucifixion will take place in the sixth season, and the resurrection will take place in the seventh season.

In terms of Jenkins’ ambitions to depict the crucifixion, he has said that he does not aim to make it graphic in any way. “If I just showed the faces of the disciples watching the crucifixion, that will be emotionally and spiritually devastating,” he said in an interview with Deadline.

In the midst of rumors to the effect that Mel Gibson is working on a sequel to “The Passion of the Christ,” the clue that surrounds Jenkins’ movie Jenkins told Newsweek, “Hey, if Mel Gibson wants to do a Resurrection sequel to ‘The Passion of the Christ,’ I’ll be there to see it, but I know it will definitely look different than mine.” Gibson’s suggestion was made in response to Jenkins’s statement. A representative from Gibson confirmed to the media source that the sequel is still in the process of being developed.

In addition, writer and director Martin Scorsese is working on a film about Jesus.

Scorsese disclosed to The Los Angeles Times that he had finished writing the screenplay for a movie that would be based on the book “A Life of Jesus” written by Shūsaku Endō. It is going to be on the shorter side for a Scorsese picture, which is known for going on for hours at a time, and it is going to concentrate on “Jesus’ core teachings in a way that explores the principles but doesn’t proselytize.” Scorsese had previously adapted “Silence” from the same author on a previous occasion.

Following his statement that he was responding to Pope Francis’s appeal to make movies about Jesus, Scorsese has now made this announcement.

“In response to the Pope’s request for artists, I have answered in the only way that I am aware of: by imagining and creating a script for a movie about Jesus. Scorsese made this statement after attending a seminar at the Vatican titled “The Global Aesthetics of the Catholic Imagination.” According to Scorsese, he is set to begin the production of the film.
