The Warriors’ game against the Mavericks on Friday was postponed due to the passing of coach Milojević

In light of the unexpected passing of Golden State assistant coach Dejan Milojević, the Warriors have decided to postpone their home game against the Dallas Mavericks, which was originally slated to take place on Friday.

It has not been announced when a makeup game will take place.

Milojević, who was 46 years old, experienced a heart attack while attending a team dinner in Salt Lake City on Tuesday evening. However, he was pronounced dead on Wednesday morning.

It has already been decided to postpone the Warriors’ game against the Jazz that was slated to take place in Utah on Wednesday night. There has also been no announcement made regarding a makeup date for that game.

Golden State is slated to play the Atlanta Hawks at home on the following Wednesday, which is the next scheduled game.

Since the year 2021, Milojević had been a member of the staff of head coach Steve Kerr with the Warriors, primarily focusing on the performance of the big men. As a 6-foot-7 big man who won three Adriatic League Most Valuable Player trophies (2004-2006), the native of Belgrade, Serbia played for a total of fourteen years in Europe.

As a teenage center in Serbia, he was credited with assisting in the development of Nikola Jokić, who went on to become the two-time NBA Most Valuable Player with the Denver Nuggets. At the time of the Warriors’ run to the NBA championship in 2022, Kevon Looney acknowledged that Milojević was instrumental in assisting him in improving his rebounding skills.

A journey consisting of four games was scheduled to conclude with the Warriors playing their last game in Utah. The current standings for Golden State are 18-22, which places them in 12th place in the Western Conference.

ESPN was supposed to cover the game versus Dallas; however, the network will now be broadcasting the game between the Brooklyn Nets and the Los Angeles Lakers, which is held in Los Angeles.
