The police have stated that a shooting that took place in the middle of rush hour in a crowded location of Uptown Dallas was a targeted shooting; however, they have not yet identified a suspect in the incident.
The police have released photographs of the individual who is accused of carrying a firearm while also wearing gloves, a mask, and a sweatshirt.
Although that individual is still at large, the police have stated that they do not feel there is a more significant threat to the general public.
Roderick Butler, a 46-year-old Army veteran, was shot and died on Wednesday afternoon. The Dallas Police Department is hoping that the CCTV photographs it is publishing will assist disclose the identify of the individual who committed the crime.
Despite this, the question of why Butler was shot remains unanswered.
“Mr. Butler was being targeted by this suspect,” said Jesse Carr, who works for the Dallas Police Department.
When it comes to the specific reasons why Butler was targeted, as well as the reasons why the masked and hooded gunman is not deemed to be a threat to the community, the police do not have any information to provide.

Is there a possibility that he made a statement that was captured on surveillance and evidenced that they were familiar with one another? Were there any kinds of messages that were passed back and forth before?
The response that Carr gave was, “So, that is a part of the ongoing investigation.”
The shooting took place in front of a Wells Fargo bank and an ATM on McKinney Avenue; however, the Dallas police think that the shooting was not connected to any action that took place at the bank specifically.
The area is home to a bustling gas station as well as other businesses.
This does not pose a threat to the general public. This is an isolated incident, and he was singled out for some reason,” it was stated by Carr.
As part of their investigation, investigators are collecting surveillance footage from the area in order to trace the events that occurred prior to and during the incident.
The brother of the victim, Brent Butler Jr., stated that “it’s just tough to deal with.”
FOX 4 discussed the situation with Butler’s family on Thursday.
According to Butler’s mother, the two chatted on a daily basis, including on the day that Butler was murdered.
According to her, he was discharged from the Army due to medical reasons. He struggled with challenges related to his mental health and had been homeless often over the course of his life. It was less than two years ago, according to her, that he moved into an apartment.
Tonie Butler, the mother of the victim, stated that there were times when her son would simply leave the house and roam around. “And Uptown was one of the places he would really like to go.”
