Valentina Hayek, Salma Hayek’s daughter, borrowed her mother’s vintage gown for the Oscars

Many people wish they could wear a celebrity’s red carpet attire. Valentina Pinault, the daughter of Salma Hayek, lives in that world. The 15-year-old accompanied Hayek on the Oscars red carpet on March 12 wearing one of her mother’s vintage outfits. The “Magic Mike’s Last Dance” actress shimmered in a custom Gucci gown with a halterneck and a train, and her daughter matched in an Isaac Mizrahi strapless A-line dress.

The 56-year-old actor and producer first wore the velvet dress for the Fire & Ice Ball, a charitable event, back in 1997, over 25 years ago. Hayek finished the ensemble at the time with a matching red shawl draped over her arms, a stack of diamond necklace, a red bag with sequins, and a red lip.

Pinault updated the dress for the 2023 Oscars with a simple tennis necklace and earrings from Anita Ko, a silver bag, and understated makeup with the assistance of Hayek’s stylist Rebecca Corbin-Murray. The dress may be Hayek’s, but it unmistakably looks like it was designed for the fashionable teen, who is aspiring to be an actor and director like her mother.

Later that evening, the mother-daughter pair made a stop at the Vanity Fair afterparty, trading their matching red outfits for complementary pink and silver outfits. Hayek wore yet another stunning Gucci outfit, this time with a lace-up leg slit and a plunging neckline. Instead, Pinault changed into a lovely rose-colored gown with draped floral accents.

Pinault is not the only famous person’s offspring to borrow from their stylish parents’ closet. Zahara and Shiloh Jolie-Pitt have been known to take a few items from their mother Angelina Jolie’s collection. During the same “The Eternals” press tour, Zahara upcycled her mother’s 2014 Oscars dress, while Shiloh once wore one of Angelina’s printed Dior dresses. Leni Klum and Harper Beckham, two other famous children, have also worn vintage clothing.
