The distribution of the March Google Pixel update has not been flawless. Unlike the majority of Pixel updates, the significant quarterly update did not debut within the first week of the month. After acknowledging the build’s delayed arrival, Google omitted any information on the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, and Pixel 6a. Once a further week had passed, Google secretly updated its announcement site with information about the Pixel 6 line-up, but it made no mention of when those smartphones may receive the upgrade.
The Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Prom, and Pixel 6a build numbers are already one week away, however Verizon units have not yet received an upgrade. Verizon’s meticulously maintained update pages for each device haven’t even been updated to show that a march update will be here any time soon. They’ve updated all other still-supported Pixel pages, including the Pixel 7, to show that a March update is here. For the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, and Pixel 6a, all are still listed as only having the February update available.
Those who are confused often post on Google’s support forums with questions like this one. Nobody has been able to obtain any definitive answers, and customer support representatives don’t appear to be aware of the cause of the delay. The Exynos modem vulnerabilities we discussed here continue to be the dominant reason for a delay. Google advised people to avoid VoLTE and WiFi Calling until solutions could be released.
Some people have started performing manual updates using the accessible factory image or OTA files, but not everyone wants to turn on their computer, learn the few required adb commands, and risk making a mistake. If you’re interested in that procedure, believe me when I say that it is not difficult. You shouldn’t be scared of flashing an OTA file, plus it won’t factory reset your phone if done properly. Unfortunately, we don’t know what’s going on either. Google doesn’t typically respond to our requests for more information about update delays. We’re still waiting to hear back about that 3-month T-Mobile Pixel update delayShould we learn more, we’ll be sure to keep you up-to-date.
