A homeless man named Sam approaches a local veterinarian, Dr. Anderson, desperate to save his sick dog, Rusty. However, Dr. Anderson coldly turns him away, leaving Sam feeling heartbroken and helpless. Unbeknownst to Dr. Anderson, this decision comes back to haunt him when he encounters Sam and Rusty months later, looking healthier than ever. Regretful of his past actions, Dr. Anderson is surprised to see the pair and is met with anger and frustration from Sam, who had vowed to make him regret his decision.
Despite their initial encounter, Sam and Rusty eventually find help from a kind veterinarian in training, Haley, and Dr. Anderson is left feeling remorseful for his past actions.
