Benjamin Weber, a labour attorney running for a seat on the Boston City Council representing District 6, received the endorsement of Mayor Michelle Wu on Tuesday. This is the latest instance of Boston’s chief executive throwing her support behind a candidate for a position on the city’s legislative body during this election season.
“Ben’s commitment to community starts with his own family and the very personal understanding of what it means to raise kids in our neighbourhoods,” Wu said in a statement. “Ben’s commitment to community starts with his own family.” Ben has spent a significant amount of time and effort over the past many years working towards a positive future for our city in a variety of capacities, including being a parent at the BPS, a youth soccer coach, a member of the neighbourhood council, and an attorney who advocates for workers’ rights. He will be an effective collaborator on the policies and constituent services that will make Boston the best city in the country for families.
