Following his initial meeting with Prime Minister Yair Lapid on Thursday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that he anticipated Israel would support international sanctions on Russia.
Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, relations between the two states have been somewhat turbulent as Israel attempts to strike a balance in its relations with the two belligerent countries.
Zelenskyi also pleaded with Israel to keep aiding Ukraine.
In a statement issued after the call, Zelenskyy stated, “I count on [Israel’s] Joining sanctions against Russia and offering useful assistance to Ukraine in rebuffing Russian Federation aggression.”
According to Lapid’s office, he reaffirmed his commitment to Ukraine and wished Zelenskyy a happy Independence Day, which Ukraine celebrated last week.Following his initial meeting with Prime Minister Yair Lapid on Thursday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that he anticipated Israel would support international sanctions on Russia.
