Zion Williamson admits struggles with diet previously in career

In four years, Zion Williamson has appeared in only 114 regular-season contests. Recently, the former No. 1 pick in the 2019 NBA Draft and current New Orleans Pelicans star sat down with Gilbert Arenas and discussed his weight, injuries, and offseason strategy.

Arenas questioned Zion. “Is it hard for you to diet at your age?”

Zion responded truthfully. “Since it is you, I will be sincere. There are times when I exclaim, “Man, that’s tough.” It’s tough, buddy.” Zion’s unique physique has been a topic of conversation ever since he entered the league.

Williamson has missed time due to injuries. Due to a knee injury, Zion played in only 24 games as a rookie. Due to a foot injury, he missed the entire 2021-22 NBA season. Due to his hamstring injury, he was limited to 29 contests this season.

Zion’s weight has fluctuated as a consequence of his injuries and continuous rehabilitation. Unfortunately, the media highlighted and assaulted him for this factgerecht. Certain media and fans continue to shame Williamson despite the fact that he has sacrificed his health for the sport he adores.

Pelicans: Jerusalem Williamson desires only to play basketball.
Zion has made it obvious that he wants nothing more than to return to the court despite the injuries that have disrupted his rhythm.

“What I want people to know about me is that I simply want to hula hoop. I desire to be outside. I do not wish to sit on the bench. You believe I want to rest over there? I do not” Zion stated that there were “a lot of things” he could have done better, and that he is in the process of rectifying these mistakes.

Xavier Tillman, a member of the Memphis Grizzlies and a guest on Gil’s Arena, asked Zion whether he has done more cardio or fasting this summer. The response of Zion should inspire Pelicans supporters.

“It’s more about securing flexibility and bandwork,” Williamson explained. I believe that these factors will keep me on the court longer than losing a significant amount of weight and returning to play.
